Here is the honest version of what happens. When you sign up, Amigare asks one permission that changes everything: read-only access to your booking confirmations — and nothing else in your inbox. Every hostel reservation, flight, bus ticket and tour voucher sitting in your inbox gets read, matched to a real place on a real date, and turned into a trip. You review what it found before a single thing lands on your profile — and because those trips came from bookings you actually paid for, they are verified rather than self-claimed. That distinction is the whole reason the numbers on your passport mean anything.

From there it keeps going forward as well as backward. Your upcoming bookings become your route ahead — the cities you'll be in and roughly when. Sync your calendar and the plans you make in the app land in the diary you already use, so Amigare knows when you're genuinely free rather than guessing. You end up with something no other travel app has: a continuous, accurate line of where you've been and where you're going, built without you typing anything.

And that line is the engine. Because Amigare knows your route and your friends' routes, it can compare them — and that's where the clever part lives.

It reads your inbox, with your permission

Access is read-only and filtered to booking confirmations only — Amigare never reads your personal mail. Hostels, flights, buses, tours: it parses the confirmations, works out the place and the dates, removes duplicates and shows you what it found. You confirm, and your map fills in behind you. Nothing is posted anywhere until you say so.

It learns where you're going next

Future bookings become your forward route. Calendar sync means your plans and your real diary agree. The app stops asking you where you are, because it already knows.

It compares your route with everyone else's

This is the bit nothing else does. Amigare looks for overlaps in space and time — you're both in the same place now, you'll both be there next week, or you missed each other by a day and they're two hours up the road. It tells you before the moment passes, not after.

It remembers who you were actually near

Every friendship stores a “met at” — the hostel, the city, the dates — worked out from where you both were at the time — from your bookings and from the check-ins you make on the road. Which is why Amigare can reunite two people who never swapped a single contact detail: it knows you shared a dorm in Pai, and it knows you'll both be in Siargao on Thursday.

Then the AI does the hard part

Ask for the cheapest, fastest or most fun way to reach a friend and it stitches buses, ferries, trains, overnighters and flights into real options with real prices. Ask it to meet in the middle — “where can we both get to by Thursday for under £40 each?” — and it solves that too. Plan a three-week route and it builds one that respects where your friends will already be.

And everything else inherits it

Because the app knows your route, Tonight knows what's walkable, the feed knows what's relevant, the price index knows which city you're pricing, and the safety card already has the right emergency numbers loaded. One permission, and the whole app stops being generic.
